He is also a local expert in the restoration of cast iron radiators, preserving both the equipment and the specialized knowledge required to keep it in service.
Better Futures combines deconstruction and material recovery with workforce development, creating employment opportunities while keeping valuable building materials in use. Through their reuse store, they have developed significant hands-on experience receiving, organizing, inventorying, marketing, and reselling salvaged building materials.
They have also helped demonstrate the financial case for deconstruction by helping property owners understand and document the potential value of donated reusable materials, including through qualified third-party appraisal processes where appropriate. Together, these approaches show how thoughtful material recovery can create environmental, workforce, and economic value.
LumberStash started with founder Jeremy Marshik pulling usable lumber out of dumpsters in Minneapolis and grew from that same scrappy premise: good materials don’t need an expensive warehouse and a complicated system to find another life.
Instead, LumberStash built a decentralized network of small, hyper-local “stashes,” moving materials quickly from salvage sites to nearby buyers and keeping overhead, storage, and transportation to a minimum.
Today, multiple locations operate across the Twin Cities and beyond, demonstrating that reuse infrastructure doesn’t always have to mean a big building—it can be a resourceful network of people, places, and connections.

Bound Collaborative is a women-owned interior design studio creating thoughtful, healthy, and durable residential and commercial spaces. Sustainability is embedded in their practice through material health, longevity, responsible sourcing, and the use of vintage and secondhand materials. They believe exceptional design requires intentional collaboration with clients, partners, trades and other disciplines.
For Stoke, Bound provides technical design assistance that turns available materials into buildable solutions, from plan layouts to millwork details and shop drawings. Resolving those questions early makes reused materials easier for contractors and trades to price, modify, and install.
